Air Compressors

By Staff
Air compressors are used to generate power for air tools. Air tools include sandblasters, spray guns, drills, impact wrenches, and ratchets. Although all air compressors operate the same way, they differ from one another in tank size, the type of pump used, and the level of power exerted.

Tank size is an important feature of air compressors as it can vary from holding two to eighty gallons of air. If you plan on using air tools that require a continuous supply of air for a long length of time, like a sandblaster, then a larger air compressor tank is recommended.

When considering what type of pump you need in your air compressors, there are two basic types to choose from pumps with oil-free belts and pumps with belt-drive pumps. The amount of power you seek in air compressors will depend on the type of air tool you are using. It is suggested that the air compressor produce the same or greater amount of cubic feet per minute as your air tool requires.
